THE ARTS SOCIETY MAYFORD

Church Recorders are The Arts Society (formerly NADFAS) volunteers who make records of the contents of our national churches, thereby promoting the recognition and preservation of the rich artistic heritage to be found in places of worship of all religions. The record covers Memorials, Metalwork, Stonework, Woodwork,Textiles, Paintings etc, Library, and Miscellaneous. Each section is described in the same manner covering physical description, materials, date, size, maker, history, donor, inscriptions and references. When the record is complete the material is then compiled into a book which is illustrated with photographs and drawings. Copies are distributed to the church, the V&A, The Arts Society (formerly NADFAS) for Church House and Heritage Archives and the local History Centre which holds the diocesan copy.

The record on St Mary's Church Horsell was completed and presented to the Church in September 2012.

The record on St Michael's and All Angels in Pirbright was completed and presented to the Church in June 2015.

In conjunction with Woking DFAS Church Recording began at All Saints, Woodham in September 2015.   If you would like to know more about becoming a Church Recorder please contact the Group Leader, Janet Gill at jgill0422@aol.com or Edwina Jones at info@mayford-dfas.org.uk.
